14th April 1999

Dear Lin Homer,

On Tuesday 13th April 1999 I was on official Fire Brigades Union duties at County Hall engaged in a discipline hearing with elected members. I was allocated a conference room along with the accused his solicitor Mr Craig Jones and barrister Mr Gary Morton. Lunch at approximately 1150 hrs, the accused and I went to the county canteen for lunch, we returned at 1250 hrs. My case file notes were left in a leather bag in the room.

I took my bag into the tribunal hearing room after lunch. At approximately 1430 hrs I had occasion to look at files in my bag. It was found that my ring binder was missing and my papers were in disarray. I went back to the room where I had left my bag to see if I could find my ring binders. After a search I found my ring binder and other papers in the accused’s bag.

I am very concerned and upset as the papers that had been rifled are pertinent to a future case regarding myself. I would like this to be investigated urgently and also I would very much like to have conference with you.
Yours sincerely

MJ Hyde
