15th April 1999

Dear Sir,

On Tuesday 13th April 1999 I was engaged on official Fire Brigades Union duties at County Hall at a discipline hearing with elected members. I was allocated a conference room along with Mr Wigglesworth, his solicitor Mr Craig Jones and barrister Mr Gary Morton. Lunch at approximately 1150 hrs, Mr Wigglesworth and myself went to the county canteen for lunch, we returned to the room at 1250 hrs. My case file notes were left in a leather bag in the room.

I took my bag into the tribunal hearing room after lunch. At approximately 1430 hrs when we had adjourned to another room I had occasion to look at files in my bag. It was found that my ring binder was missing and my papers were in disarray. I went back to the room where I had left my bag to see if I could find my ring binder. After a search I found my ring binder and other papers in Mr Wigglesworth’s bag that was still in the room.

I am very concerned and upset as the papers and files that had been rifled are pertinent to a future case regarding myself. I would like this to be investigated urgently and also I would very much like to have conference with you.
Yours sincerely

MJ Hyde
